African Quilts
Up for silent bids will be 15 quilts made by the Sweetwaters Quilting Guild, a group of thirty-seven women and three men whose craftsmanship is bringing desperately needed dollars to a Zulu community of 100,000. Indeed, $100 a month is the entire monthly income of many families in Sweetwaters, where the unemployment rate is more than 40 percent and many homes lack electricity and water. All proceeds from the quilts' sales are sent to the Sweetwaters Quilting Guild. To learn more about the guild, see rotaryhiltonhowick.co.za
